Samsung has introduced the latest addition to its R-Series range of stylish high-end notebooks. Incorporating the new ATI Mobility Radeon HD4650 graphics chip with either 512MB or 1GB of RAM, Samsung says that the R720 offers advanced 3D graphics processing power and dedicated GDDR3 memory provide outstanding image quality.
The R720’s large 17.3-inch LED display features a true 16:9 aspect ratio. The laptop is based around Intel's Centrino 2 processor technology, which includes a dual-core processor for powerful mobile performance, extended wireless mobility for immersed connectivity and enhanced power-saving features that maximize battery life, according to Samsung.
The R720 has four USB 2.0 ports, including a combo port that supports both USB and eSATA connections, so you can transfer data to and from external devices at up to 3GBps. It also has a chargeable USB port, which emits power so you can charge portable devices, such as mobile phones or MP3 players, even when the notebook is turned off.
Samsung has coated the R720's keyboard with an anti-bacterial keyboard with a special finish. The company says that this makes it almost impossible for bacteria to live and breed, so virtually all bacteria are successfully eliminated. The keyboard is also larger than the R720's predecessor for enhanced usability, and using its 17-key full-sized numeric keypad is the same as a desktop PC.
Options include a Blu-ray drive.
The Samsung R720 will be available from July in the UK. It runs Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.
