It's been a long time coming - but Matrox has finally made the cut with RTMac, its Mac OS version of the popular RT2000 digital-video editing suite. Based around Apple's Final Cut Pro 2, RTMac brings real-time digital-video editing to the Mac, providing broadcast-quality effects and 32-bit, uncompressed, animated graphics in a dual-stream, native-DV editing environment. Aimed at digital filmmakers and multimedia producers, RTMac is fully optimized for Final Cut Pro 2 and Apple's Power Mac G4. Matrox says that editors can work with three layers of video and graphics in real-time, and create broadcast-quality effects instantly, without rendering. Pixelan Software's OrganicFX Lite is also bundled with the package. The bundle includes a breakout box and graphics accelerator card, which can support the use of two monitors. Shipping now, UK pricing is yet to become available.
