Matrox has announced that its RT2500 editing board is now compatible with Windows 2000 and XP. This requires version 3.1 of its Matrox Video Tools, which can be downloaded from the company's Web site. The application bridges the gap between its RT2500 and RT2000 realtime video editing cards and the Premiere editing tool.
The update also adds the TurboDV software engine, which boosts DV export on dual-processor machines. It allows the systems to support Intel’s Pentium 4 chips and Matrox’s G550 graphics card. There’s also independent display drivers to make the application of updates for Matrox graphics cards easier.
Version 3.1 adds an audio mixer to allow level adjustment while recording and during playback. It rounds off with additional control over colourization settings to allow users to apply a real-time soft-edge perspective effect to a colourized clip.
Registered users can download the update for free from the Matrox Web site. It can also be ordered on CD for a nominal charge.
