Red Giant Software has announced new versions of its Knoll Light Factory, Primatte Keyer and Instant HD plug-ins for compositing applications.

border=0 />Knoll Light Factory 2.5 is shipping now and is the latest version of the light flare plug-in created by John Knoll, <i>Star Wars</i> effects guru and Photoshop co-creator. The upgrade adds 25 new preset flares -- including flash bulb and digital camera sun -- and accelerates performance using the host computer

The Knoll Unmult tool offers alpha generation. Controls including brightness and scale have been added to Light Factory Spectacular.

Knoll Light Factory 2.5 is available in two versions. The new Editors version costs $199 (around £105) and works with adobe Premiere Pro, Apple Final Cut Pro and Motion, and Avid Xpress Pro. The Pro version for After Effects costs $299 (around £215).

The Editors version supports Premiere Pro and Xpress Pro, while the Pro version adds After Effects and other AVX systems. </p> <p> Both offer real-time GPU acceleration using nVidia graphics cards with 6- or 7-series processors, and playback acceleration of more than six times, according to Red Giant Software. </p> <p> Primate Keyer 4 Editors ships with the DV and HDV Key Correct features, and costs $199 (around £105). Primatte Keyer 4 Pro adds the complete Key Correct toolset for other features and 16-bit rendering, and costs $695 (around £370) </p> <p> Instant HD Pro adds a high-quality algorithm to the DV-to-HD scaling software that uses multi-frame analysis for better results. It also gains integrated controls for more advanced sharpness and noise reduction.
