Magic Bullet Colorista is the latest plug-in from Red Giant Software, which adds colour balancing tools to the range of 'film looks' plug-ins.

Magic Bullet changes the tone and colouring of footage to a set of looks inspired by film and broadcast genres such as Technicolor and car commercial, and specific movies and programmes including The Matrix and CSI. Core to getting these styles to look right, as with any colour correction process, is colour balancing your footage before applying them -- which is what Colorista's toolset is geared towards.

Colorista has controls for modifying shadows, mid-tones and highlights using traditional Lift, Gamma, and Gain colour wheels. These allow for easy adjustment of color balance and luminance with ultra-sensitive control for precise results, according to Red Giant. Saturation and Exposure options allows users to make flesh tones look natural, plus set the highlight and shadow levels exactly.
