Web3D technology company Pulse has announced that its exporter tools for 3D animation apps have been expanded to work with Alias|Wavefront’s Maya suite. Previously the tools only worked with Discreet’s 3D Studio Max app.
Pulse Exporter allows Maya animations to be exported in the Pulse format for transmission over the Web. They can be viewed using Pulse’s Web browser plug-in. This works by downloading the models for each animation and then using geometric information streamed to it to create the animation on-the-fly.
The plug-in is free and will be made available for download from the Pulse Web site in the first half of 2001 – although end users have to pay to stream Pulse animations.
