New York and Los Angeles-based animation studio Psyop has bought Communist revolutionary poster art to life for a dynamic new spot advertising Stoli Blackberi, a flavoured vodka.
Set to the rousing strains of a Prokofiev symphony, the spot, titled Airship features geometric, Art Deco backdrops, against which sturdy, determined ranks of men and women dance to celebrate the launch of a new airship – which is in the shape of a giant Stoli bottle.
The 'airship' heads across the world, which is coloured entirely in black, white, purple, grey, and cream, to be greeted rapturously by New York city, even bringing a gleam to the eye of the Statue of Liberty.
The spot, which was commissioned by Publicis London, makes clever use of 2D imagery, and combines black and white photography with a photorealistic Stoli bottle and techniques that make the characters appear flattened and puppet-like.
