Deneba has updated Canvas 7, given a perfect 5.0 rating when reviewed in March’s Digit, to version 7.0.1. Although seemingly only a small upgrade, Canvas now includes a number of new extra tools – including automatic updates, enhanced HTML export and one step painting.
The auto update feature means that users with Net connections will automatically gain new program updates when they are released. Web export has been improved to work with older browsers, and can now work at the standard Windows 96ppi. All transparency masks can now be adjusted globally, and a smart selection feature that allows users to click ‘through’ such masks. Painting also been made easier through a one step painting tool, which allows users to paint directly with a brush without having to designate a bitmap area.
The update also includes a number of minor changes and bug fixes. Canvas now supports fast PostScript 2 printing and kerning pair export for EPSF files.
