Canopus has announced a version of its Edius NX real-time SD and HD video editing solution that includes a PCI Express capture and acceleration board. PCI Express offers faster connectivity between the board and its host hardware than the standard PCI interface used by the older version of the board.

Edius NX combines the capture board with Canopus's Edius Pro 3.6 software, a new release of the software that adds support for JVC's 720p (at 24, 25 and 30fps) and Canon's 1080/24 variants of HDV. The solution allows real-time, mixed-format editing of uncompressed SD, HD, HDV, DV, MPEG-2 and MPEG-1, using Canopus's variable-bitrate Canopus HQ codec.

Edius NX with PCI Express costs £749 plus VAT, which includes the Edius Pro software for Windows XP. The HD Expansion Kit, which adds HD i/o and monitoring, costs £429 plus VAT.
