Adobe is to release PageMaker 7.0 – and says it will be a business creation tool for media that can be viewed on any platform, anytime. Now aimed at corporate users, the former contender to the DTP crown adds enhanced workflow features and PDF tools for business users. Adobe InDesign has replaced PageMaker as the company's flagship DTP package. The new release brings PDF into the fold, and includes PDF creation tools and the ability to create tagged PDF files for displaying on PDAs and other wireless devices. New support debuts for Microsoft Word files, Microsoft Publisher, and QuarkXPress files. Data merge capabilities for direct mail applications have been added. PageMaker 7.0 will ship in summer, says Adobe, and will cost £399 plus VAT, and £59 upgrade from previous versions. PageMaker 7.0 works with Mac OS and Windows.
