Olympus has taken the wraps off the C-60 Zoom, a 6.1 megapixel model with a compact size and plenty of creative functions, according to the company.

The C-60 Zoom features Olympus' TruePic TURBO Image Processor, which enables rapid start-up, shutter release, and playback, as well as PictBridge technology for printing directly from the camera to any PictBridge-enabled printer. It also offers 3x optical zoom, macro mode for sharper close-ups, dual auto focus, and a semi-transmissive LCD screen that combines a backlight with the ability to allow light to penetrate a few layers into the LCD, resulting in a brighter image even in direct sunlight.

The C-60 Zoom also offers 13 shooting modes as well as six scene program modes and a MyMode option that allows you to save custom camera settings. Program Auto lets the camera choose the best settings for any given situation. You can also save audio narration for your still images or record short QuickTime Motion JPEG video clips.

Images transfer to your Mac or Windows PC via USB 2.0. The cable for that is included, as is a 32MB xD-Picture Card, a Li-Ion rechargeable battery and charger, an RM-2 remote control, an audio/video out cable, and a wrist strap

The C-60 Zoom costs £299 plus VAT.

Olympus has also announced the less compact 4mp C-460 Zoom del Sol, which also features a 3x optical zoom, the TruePic TURBO Image Processor and sunlight-enhanced LCD screen. The C-460 Zoom del Sol is only available at Dixons Tax Free shops at airports for £215 plus VAT.
