LaCie has released the Starck Desktop Hard Drive and Starck Mobile Hard Drive, external storage units with chassis designed by Philippe Starck.
The Starck Desktop Hard Drive has an intelligent surface that responds to the touch. Users can customise the touch-sensitive surface to open any application.
Encased in sturdy aluminium, the drives offer the most resistant choices for consumer hard drives on the market, according to LaCie. The durable exterior protects the hard drives from shock and overheating.
The LaCie Starck Desktop Hard Drive (above) features a status LED in the form of Starck’s signature symbol. The symbol glows orange or green to indicate different activity. The LaCie Starck Mobile Hard Drive (below) offers a built-in USB cable, uniquely placed for convenient storing and data accessibility.
The Starck Hard Drives connect via USB 2.0 and ship with software including the LaCie Backup Assistant and LaCie Desktop Manager.
The LaCie Starck Desktop Hard Drive is available in 1TB and 2TB capacities for £99.99 and £182.60 respectively, and the LaCie Starck Mobile Drive in 320GB (£73.90) and 500GB (£95.64) capacities. All prices exclude VAT.
