Microtek has added a film scanner to its range that the company claims uses temperature to get the best scans possible. The ArtixScan 4500t’s new cooling fan system keeps the CCDs at the ideal temperature for optimal scanning, according the company. The 4500t is a medium-format scanner that can scan 35mm slides, 6-x-7cm, 6-x-6cm, and 4-x-5-inch transparencies, both positive and negative, mounted and unmounted. It offers true 42-bit input and output with an optical resolution of 2500dpi and a dynamic range of 3.9 DMax. The scanner connects to Windows and Mac computers a SCSI-2 interface and ships with three scanning packages: Microtek’s ScanWizard Pro and ICC Profiler and LaserSoft’s SilverFast 5. The scanner is shipping today and costs £2,950 plus VAT.
