NEC has developed a camera-phone that's the size of a credit card, and plans to unveil it next week.
Few details of the telephone are available at present and NEC is expected to announce its development and the name of a launch customer at a Tokyo news conference scheduled for Tuesday.
The launch customer is a foreign cellular telephone network operator, company spokeswoman Akiko Shikimori said on Thursday.
She declined to name the carrier or network standard with which the handset is compatible, but said the phone is not tied to a particular cellular technology and NEC will be able to supply different versions for different network standards. Similarly, the resolution of the camera is not fixed and can be changed to match local market demand, she said.
