Adaptec has updated its Toast software for Mac CD-R drives to version 4.1.1. The free update adds many bug fixes and support for additional drives and digital audio playback under Mac OS 9. The update also adds support for BURN-Proof drives. This is a calibration system found on some CD-R drives that uses calibration technology to stop buffer underruns. This where not enough data can be sent from a computer to the drive to keep up with the laser that creates the CD-R, which has to write at a continual, unchanging speed. The update can be downloaded from Adaptec’s Web site.
