Maxon has announced a new 3D painting tool for Mac and Windows, BodyPaint 3D. The company claims that this is the first Mac product to allow realtime painting onto 3D objects.
The product uses its own proprietary Raybrush technology to enable painting onto objects in final render quality even if this involves millions of polygons, according to Maxon. This includes using any or all material channels with reflections, refractions and transparencies.
BodyPaint 3D is designed to integrate with Maxon’s own Cinema 4D 3D suite, but can also work with many other 3D file formats. It also supports WACOM Intuos tablets.
The application will be released towards the end of the year and will cost £479 including VAT.
