LaCie has announced an 8TB model of its 4big Quadra four-bay RAID drive, and three bundles based around the range.

The 4big Quadra features four hot-swappable disks and supports seven RAID modes including RAID 0 and RAID 5. The LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle gives video post-production companies a choice of combining two 4big Quadra for up to 8TB and 400MBps transfer speeds, or four 4big Quadra for up to 32TB and 700MBps transfer speeds.

Featuring three options for customisation, the LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle includes the choice of two or four 4big Quadra, a LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card 3Gb/s – 4Ports, and a LaCie Rescue Kit (in the 16TB and 32TB bundles). The Rescue Kit consists of a spare hard disk and power supply in case of hardware failure.

The 8TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle includes two 4TB LaCie 4big Quadra. The 16TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle has
four 4TB LaCie 4big Quadra. The 32TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle has four 8TB LaCie 4big Quadra.

The 4big Quadra Bundle includes an automatic standby mode that LaCie says reduces power consumption of each tower by up to 80 percent compared to a standard 4-bay RAID tower. The company also says that the Noctua cooling system makes it almost 50 percent quieter than comparable systems. Designed in aluminum by the product designer Neil Poulton, the 4big Quadra design is stackable and space-saving, fitting into modern working environments.
