In conjunction with its debut on iTunes, ITV has made its online catch-up TV service Mac-compatible for the first time.

However, use of the broadcaster's online service requires that Mac user's install Microsoft's Flash competitor, Silverlight. Installation of the MIcrosoft solution is easy, though it requires you restart your browser.

ITV explains it is currently beta-testing Mac support on its online TV catch-up service, saying: "Thanks for trying our new Silverlight video service, which we are introducing to open our content to Mac users, and those who use the Firefox browser. This is still under development - it's a working beta product - so any feedback would be appreciated to enable us to improve the player and squash bugs."

One clearly visible limitation is that shows watched online cannot be seen in full screen mode.
