3D software house Caligari has entered the Web 3D arena with the launch of iSpace - a Web-graphics authoring tool that supports 3D and animation. The company - better known for its trueSpace 3D package - says iSpace will let Web designers create 3D Web pages with ease.
iSpace can be used with other HTML editors, the company says, with the package automatically assembling without needing to resort to HTML coding. iSpace features a 3D working environment, according to Caligari, and includes features such as occlusion, transparency, shadows, reflections, textures, true lighting, ray-tracing and high-quality anti-aliasing. 3D animation tools include the ability to create rotating buttons, animated banners, and offers both procedural and key-framed animation.
The company says that multiple effects can be added to objects, letting designers add bounce and spin procedural animation effects to an object, for example. Users will be able to import files from trueSpace, NewTek LightWave, Discreet 3D Studio Max and RayDream Studio. Caligari says that users will not need a viewer to see pages created in iSpace on the Web.
iSpace is shipping for Windows 98/NT/2000, and can be downloaded from the Caligari Web site for a special introductory price of $99.
