Purgatory Design has released version 2.6 of Intaglio, its drawing application for Mac OS X.

Designed as an inexpensive 2D drawing and illustration application in the same vein as "the original Mac drawing applications," Intaglio offers support for AppleScript, Apple Type Services, ColorSync, CoreImage, Quartz and other features.

New to this release is improved CoreImage resolution independence and improved editing of arbitrary path shapes. A Scissors tool has been added to break or add anchor points at arbitrary locations. Unite, Intersect, Excluding and Subtract path combination operations have been added. Calligraphy-style stroke brushes are new to this release, and users can now convert path stroke outlines to fill outlines. What's more, Intaglio 2.6 adds conversion of path arcs to curves.

A free upgrade for existing users, Intaglio costs $89. The software requires Mac OS X 10.2 or later, though some features are dependent on Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4.
