Enfocus has announced details of Instant PDF 3.0, an update to its PDF preflight application, in advance of its unveiling at DRUPA 2004 in Germany in May.
According to Enfocus, the major development in version 3 is the implementation of an Enfocus PDF Queue which contains all settings, including print styles, job options, PDF Profiles and Action Lists, needed to create error-free PDFs.
"The integration of the Enfocus PDF Queue with CertifiedPDF.net makes it effortless for receivers to consistently communicate their preferred quality specifications to their creative partners and customers. If a specification changes, these changes are automatically distributed using Instant PDF's queue update feature from CertifiedPDF.net," says Filiep Maes, Enfocus director of software development.
New features also include menu-level integration with multiple PDF creation tools and technologies including InDesign CS, Acrobat and QuarkXPress 6, and operating system-level integration in Mac OS X (Panther and Jaguar).
"We've dramatically reworked the product, based on customer feedback," says Enfocus CEO David van Driessche. "this improved version ... gives document receivers the tools they need to define how that PDF should behave for their particular workflow. Enfocus Instant PDF 3.0 is now a stand-alone application, with tight links to design applications and PDF creation engines."
The company also claims that the new release will include enhancements to the User Interface, including simpler installation and set-up, direct integration with QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and the Mac OS X print panel through a "Save as Certified PDF" menu item, a user interface for job monitoring, and a new in-application help system.
