Author: 30 large artworks and interactive projects are lighting up central London this weekend.
This weekend's Lumiere Festival in London is described by it's organisers as the biggest 'festival of light' ever put in the UK's capital.
What this actually means is that there are 30 light-based installations around Mayfair, King's Cross and between Oxford Street and Trafalgar Square/Westminster that you can freely wander between tonight, tomorrow and Sunday nights from 6.30-10.30pm. To help visitors find them, the organisers have provided a handy downloadable map.
The artworks include sculptures, interactive installations and huge moving characters like the Les Luminéoles by Porté par le vent, which are appearing on Piccadilly. Artists taking part include TILT, Julian Opie, NOVAK, Janet Echelman, Cédric Le Borgne, Patrice Warrener and Ocubo.
