At the IBC show in Amsterdam, AJA Video has release what it claims is the first PCI card for Final Cut Pro to offer HD and SD, analog and digital input/output.

The Kona LH is a Mac OS X-compatible PCI card that offers 10-bit uncompressed video capture for Final Cut Studio running on an Apple Power Mac G5 computer. AJA says that the card simplifies system set-ups, as it can work with analog and digital sources of many of the various SD and HD formats on the market.

As well as uncompressed video, the Kona LH also supports capture and layback to HDCAM, DVCPro HD, HDV, Betacam, DigiBeta and even VHS. Playback of DVCPro HD and HDV and video through Apple's Dynamic RT Extreme are accelerated by the board, so that the G5 is freed up to work on other tasks.

For Standard Definition work, the analog inputs and outputs can be configured as 12-bit SD Component/YC/Composite, all via three professional BNC connectors. For SD and HD Digital I/O, KONA LH offers SDI/HD-SDI input, and two SDI/HD-SDI outputs. Broadcast-grade Genlock is also included.

The Kona LH costs $1,790 (around £970).
