3D software package form*Z will be updated to version 3.8 this quarter, with a fully revamped 4.0 release scheduled for mid-2001, says form*Z developer auto.des.sys. New parametric capabilities and operations based on ACIS will feature in the release - which will be a free upgrade to recent form*Z buyers. Features include more parametric personalities for objects, such as smoothly parametric objects now available for primitives and revolved objects, such as sweeps and helixes. Boolean and Trim/Split operations will be able to be applied to parametric objects, and advanced rounding and blending can now be applied to parametic objects and surfaces. Also slated for the 3.8 upgrade is a new export/import translator for NetTek LightWave, allowing users to both read LightWave models and save models for use in LightWave.
