Canon UK has responded to a story reported on the Digit Web site last week which reported an alleged firmware hack to add to the EOS-300D functionality normally only found on the EOS-10D.

A spokesperson for the company said: “Canon is currently investigating reports of a third party firmware that may increase the functionality of its EOS 300D digital SLR camera.”

“Canon has had absolutely no involvement in the development of this firmware and has not carried out any performance tests on it. As such, Canon does not recommend the use of this firmware” the spokesperson continued. “Any customers that wish to install third party firmware do so at their own risk and any Canon digital camera with third party firmware installed will not be covered by Canon's warranty."
