Eizo has announced the ColorEdge CG220, an LCD monitor which the company claims offers full support of the Adobe RGB colour space.

Introduced for the design market, Eizo claims that the monitor offers other features for complex imaging tasks and colour management, including improved rendering of dark grayscale tones with 14-bit colour processing capabilities.

The screen also offers the ability to emulate the colour characteristics of other monitors using ICC profiles or manual settings. Black levels can be adjusted and the range offered is between 0.5 and 3.5cd/m². White point is adjustable in 100K increments from 4,000K to 10,000K and gamma in increments of 0.1 from 1.0 to 2.6.

Eizo claims that these features, combined with a colour gamut almost equivalent to the ISO-coated colour space used in printing, means that the screen can be used for on-screen proofing.

The 22.2-inch screen has a resolution of 1,920-x-1,200 and an aspect ratio of 16:10, which Eizo claims permits the display of two A4 pages of an application like Photoshop and its tool palette without overlap.

The ColorEdge CG220 will be available in January next year. Pricing has yet to be announced.
