Canopus has announced the imminent release of an HDV-compatible real-time editing application, Edius for HDV720P. Due to begin shipping next week, the editing tool will retail for £699 plus VAT.

Edius for HDV720P supports direct footage capture from JVC HDV camcorders, and real-time, multi-track native HDV editing, as well as support for MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 editing, according to Canopus.

Based on Edius 2.5, Edius for HDV720P also includes Canopus’ ProCoder 2.0 transcoding software to provide direct timeline output of native HDV files, as well as output to common video formats, the company claims.

Edius for HDV720P includes Inscriber TitleMotion Pro for Canopus for creating graphics, video titles and motion effects. It also features DVD-Video authoring directly from the timeline with full chapter point support.
