Billed as one of the benchmarks for games designers, the ECTS Awards - known as 'Stars' - were handed out to leading lights in the game-design industry yesterday at London's ExCeL exhibition centre. Headline awards included Electronic Arts' Black & White (PC game of the year) and Sony's Grand Turismo 3 (console game of the year). Other winners include Sony's PlayStation 2 (best console), Ubi Soft (publisher of the year), and CDV's Project Nomad (best PC game of the show). Sold Out Software scooped the MCV Best of British award, while Criterion won best British game design innovation with its Renderware technology.
