E-on software has announced that Vue 5 Esprit, the latest version of its 3D landscape tool, is now shipping for Mac OS X and Windows.

According to e-on software, new features in Vue 5 Esprit include global illumination and radiosity with EasyGI single slider quality setting. Vue 5 now supports high dynamic range image (HDRI) and image based lighting (IBL).

With Vue 5 it’s now possible to produce procedural terrains with sub-pixel detail, regardless of viewing distance. The software includes an advanced atmospheric engine and 3D tree and plant technology.

The full version of Vue 5 Esprit comes complete with over 50 3D trees and plants, over 160 atmospheres, 460 materials, 250 fully textured 3D objects and over 70 example scenes.

Vue 5 Esprit costs $249 (around £140). Included is a free $50 voucher for use in Cornucopia3D, e-on’s upcoming Vue-content store.

An upgrade from Vue d’Esprit 4 costs $149 (£85) or $129 (£73) for users who bought Vue d’Esprit 4 after October 1st 2003. A sidegrade from Vue 4 Professional costs $99 (£55). Vue 5 Professional is expected before the end of the year.
