E-on Software has released new versions of its Vue 3D landscape creation software. All versions of Vue see a free 7.4 release, while a paid-for version 7.5 is available for the the xStream and Infinite versions.

New features in version 7.5 include support for color and alpha masks of single clouds and cloud layers in multi-pass renderer, 'Camera Mapping' to cut animation render times; spherical and planetary procedural terrains with infinite level of detail; spherical cloudscapes (procedural, or based on real-world/modified cloud maps); and material painting and effect-driven material mapping in the Terrain Editor.

There's enhanced multi-processor usage to boost the speed of creating procedural terrains, Dynamic EcoSystems and panoramic rendering. EcoSystem populations can now evolve over time, while cloud layers can cast and receive shadows from other cloud layers and objects in the scene.

The xStream plug-in for high-end 3D suites gains support of the V-Ray renderer for 3ds Max and support of EcoSystem painting in XSI.

Vue 7.5 xStream costs US$1,495 (around £950), with upgrades from Vue 7 xStream available for $495 (£315). Vue 7.5 Infinite costs for $895 (£565), with upgrades from Vue 7 Infinite available for $295 (£185).
