Digit Online has closed its Web poll that asked the question which is the best 3D software. A staggering 1,539 people voted during the last month, with hundreds posting comments battling over their choices.
The winner, with a whopping 26 per cent of the votes cast (401 votes) was Maxon Cinema 4D XL, which pipped second-placed Discreet 3D Studio Max 4 to the top spot. 3D Studio Max clocked up 22 per cent of the votes (351).
Third place was Alias|Wavefront Maya (18 per cent, or 282 votes). Forth and fifth places were separated by a single vote - Avid Softimage|3D capturing 207 of the votes cast, compared to NewTek LightWave, which scored 206 votes. Both won over 13 per cent of users. Finally, five percent of readers voted in the 'Other' category, with popular choices also being trueSpace, Amapi, and Realsoft 3D.
