Canto has announced that the Enterprise version of its asset management solution Cumulus 5 will be available for Mac OS X. This is the first time the company has released its Enterprise version for the Macintosh platform – it is currently available for Windows, Linux, Solaris and Irix.
The Enterprise edition offers features that make it suitable for pre-press bureaus, Web developers and large corporates. Key benefits of this version of Cumulus include automatic detection and cross-referencing of assets, users and group privileges that allow access to be restricted to specific categories and records, the ability to check-in and check-out assets via the Internet, and extended database connectivity with support for Oracle SQL.
This version natively supports the power provided by the Unix kernel of Mac OS X. It is based on the Cumulus 5.0.10 version and will be compatible with the Mac OS X client as well as with the new Mac OS x server. It will not work with the first, and now old, version of Mac OS X server.
For existing owners of a Cumulus 5 Enterprise edition under Windows, a side -grade to the Mac OS X version of the Enterprise edition is free. Further pricing information is available from Canton's eShop.
