Corel has announced the sale of its landscaping and animation software tool Bryce to DAZ Productions. DAZ claims that it has extensive development plans for Bryce, which has stagnated under Corel’s ownership – it was last updated in 2001.

Bryce's new owner has renamed the application DAZ|Bryce and plans to build integration with its animation lip-sync solution DAZ|Mimic and with its art tool DAZ|Studio into the next release of the software.

DAZ did not target a date for that release, simply stating that it will arrive "in the coming months," but the company confirmed its commitment to a new Windows and Mac version. A feedback forum is now available on the DAZ Web site; users are encouraged to post wish lists for the next Bryce release there. The company also announced that, effective immediately, it assumes all sales and customer support responsibility for Bryce.
