Maxon has announced .5 upgrades to Cinema 4D and BodyPaint, and launched a bundle aimed at 3D studios. The Cinema 4D Release 9.5 upgrade primarily aims at lighting, rendering and workflow, while BodyPaint 3D 2.5 focusses on workflow.

Cinema 4D Release 9.5 features a simplified lighting set-up, according to Maxon, and lights can be given any shape. Area lights and shadows render up to four times faster than in version 9, says the company. Output frames can be in HDRI or OpenEXR format with 32-bit per channel colour depth, and multipass renderings can be output as compositing files for Shake.

border=0 /><BR></div> </p> <p> The upgrade adds the Content Browser, which gives users an overview of projects and presets. These can saved locally or on a central server. Full screen mode is designed to quickly offer the maximum amount of working space. The Baker has been reworked to let users create textures, normal maps and UVs more quickly, according to Maxon. </p> <p> If users have purchased the Advanced Render module, they gain support for Ambient Occlusion and SKY. Ambient Occulusion enables users to create and quickly render more realistic shadows, and can be rendered or baked as a texture. SKY is a faux atmospherics systems that Maxon claims is fast, easy and creates breathtaking results. </p> <p> <b>Building a bigger body</b> </p> <p> BodyPaint 3D 2.5 also gains the Content Browser for more efficient management of models and scenes and the full screen mode. Other additions taken from Cinema 4D include the Heads-Up Display to view and adjust scene data within the viewport, and a one-touch customizable menu offering access to most application functions. </p> <p> <img src= Print
