Canon has announced the launch of two new entry-level 3.2Mp compact cameras - the PowerShot A310 and the PowerShot A75. Both include a single-button print/share function and both PictBridge and Direct Print compatibility for simplified printing and uploading of images and sport a new Canon DIGIC processor.

The cheaper A310, priced at around £136 plus VAT, has a fixed focal length lens with a 5.1 digital zoom. The A75 includes a 3x optical zoom, a nine-point autofocus system and a minimum focus distance of 5cm. With 13 shooting modes, including a scene mode with six presets, the camera will retail at around £213 plus VAT.

Both cameras support the recording of VGA movie clips up to 30s long which can be cut and edited in-camera. As well as PictBridge PC-less printing, when using a Canon compact photo printer the cameras will also print movie still thumbnails.

Software supplied with both cameras includes ZoomBrowser EX (Windows) and ImageBrowser (Mac) for image browsing and printing, PhotoStitch, ArcSoft PhotoStudio and VideoImpression. The cameras will be available in March.
