Canon also announced its first touchscreen camera, the 12-megapixel Digital Ixus 200 IS, which features a 3-inch touchscreen, optical image stabilization, and 720p HD video shooting capabilities.
The Ixus 200 IS also offers an ultrawide 5x optical zoom lens (24mm to 120mm) and HDMI output for viewing HD movies and photos on a big-screen TV.
The Ixus 200 IS will be available in October for £285 plus VAT in four colours: silver, gold, blue, and purple.
Borrowing the same eye-catching style as the fashionable Digital Ixus 120 IS announced earlier this year, the new 12-megapixel Ixus 120 IS bulks up its specs a bit with the addition of a wide-angle lens (4x optical, from 28mm to 112mm), 720p HD movie mode with HDMI output, and four fancy flavors: brown, black, blue, and silver.
The optically image stabilized Ixus 120 IS is slated for September at £260 plus VAT.
Lastly, Canon also added two new high-zoom PowerShots to its stable. The 12-megapixel, 20x optical zoom PowerShot SX20 IS (28mm to 560mm) comes equipped with a flip-out swiveling 2.5-inch LCD, optical image stabilization, a pop-up flash, and shooting modes that include shutter- and aperture-priority.
The SX20 IS also shoots high-def movies, as 720p MOV files captured at 30fps, and runs on AA batteries. The new megazoom will be available in September.
Rounding out today's camera announcements is another high-zoom model, the 10-megapixel PowerShot SX120 IS.
It offers a 10x optical zoom range, but no wide angle lens: 36mm to 360mm. Optical image stabilization, a fixed 3-inch LCD screen, and AA battery power fill out the SX120 IS's key specs. The SX120 IS goes on sale in September.
