After four years in development hell, Sasquatch is finally about to be released. The hair and fur effects plug-in for LightWave will be launched in time for the SIGGRAPH show in New Orleans at the end of July. It will cost around £350, or around £250 if ordered before July 17. Sasquatch integrates its own photorealistic hair-rendering engine into LightWave. Style, colour and shading of fur and hair are manipulated through over 50 controls. Fur and hair is styled automatically, so ‘combing’ it into place is easy to perform. How impressive Sasquatch is in use is completely unknown, as no betas have appeared in the four years of development. However, impressive rendered shots with no touch-up work performed, according to developers Worley Labs, have been shown on the company’s Web site.
