Bare Bones has released BBEdit 6.1, a free update for the Mac-only HTML text editor that includes OS X support. This allows it to use technologies only included in OS X, such as native Perl tools. As well as support for Apple’s new OS, the update adds enhanced FTP support with support for more security methods and alternate ports, and optional display of hard line numbers in soft-wrapped documents. It can also work with Emacs key equivalents for basic editing commands. The update can be downloaded from the company’s Web site.
