Bare Bones Software on Thursday announced the release of BBEdit 9.2, a new version of the company's popular HTML and text editor for the Mac. It's a free update for version 9 users. BBEdit is priced at $125 (£84).
BBEdit provides editing, searching and text manipulation tools for Web developers, programmers and others who need industrial-strength text editing tools. It includes build-in FTP and SFTP support, function navigation and syntax coloring for numerous source code languages, AppleScript support, Unix scripting support, text and code completion and more.
New to BBEdit 9.2 is the Sleep command, which captures the application's state and restores it at the next launch. The new release also features support for editing LassoScript source code, including syntax coloring, function navigation and text folding.
Enhancements to Projects have been made in this release, with support for added comments, shortcuts for searching and a new file format that works better with Subversion and Perforce source code management systems. Support for the Growl notification software has also been added for some functions. Other changes have been made as well -- complete release notes are available online.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
