AutoDesSys has released the first finished version of Bonzai3d, a 3D sketching and modelling tool that was previously available as a freely downloadable beta.

Bonzai3d aims to allows users to create conceptual design and sketching ideas quickly and easily, but also make it possible to take them to the next step by utilizing bonzai3d’s robust geometry and power to obtain models that can be smoothly rendered and fabricated.

The applications includes all of the classic modelling tools, plus real-time booleans; NURBS curves and surfaces; dynamic graphic editing; and a reshape tool that makes sculpting easy. It features advanced openGL rendering with support for shadows, transparencies, and textures; graphic texture map editing; over 200 materials; a content library of trees, furniture, doors, and windows; support for 3D Warehouse models and Google Earth and Sketchup file compatibility -- plus support for over 20 export/import formats, and 3D printing and fabrication.

AutoDesSys says that Bonzai3d has a simple and smart interface that reveals unexpected capabilities and tools that complement and enhance creativity. Embedded tutorial videos facilitate the learning at the user's own pace.Intuitive tools include descriptive step-by-step guides and interface hints for a productive workflow.

Bonzai3D costs $500 (around £340).
