Apple is expected to announce a major upgrade to its Aperture photo workflow software on Monday. The company is hosting an invitation-only event the day before the Photokina photography trade show in Cologne at 4.30pm on September 25, and every indication is that a new version of Aperture will be introduced.

The invitation uses the same close-up shot of a camera lens as Apple's marketing materials for Aperture, which is the company's only product focussed primarily on the photographic market.

Photokina is the Europe largest imaging trade show, covering photography, workflow and printing - and new pro-focussed cameras and printers are expected to be announced to coincide with the show.
