Apple has released a version of its MacBook Pro laptop with a 17-inch screen, though the company has still managed to keep it less than an inch thick and just over 3kg in weight.

The model features a 2.16GHz Intel Duo processor and 1GB of RAM as standard, upgradeable to 2GB. It has a 120GB 5,400rpm Serial ATA, which features Sudden Motion Sensor technology that stops the drive to protect data if it detects that the laptop has been dropped, and a 8x dual-layer DVD±RW ‘SuperDrive’.

It’s powered by a PCI Express-based ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics chip with 256MB of RAM. This MacBook Pro features a DVI output for connecting an external display, with Dual-Link support for connecting higher-resolution monitors such as Apple’s own 30-inch Cinema Display. </p> <p> Connectivity includes Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11a/b/g (AirPort Extreme) wireless networking, and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR – plus three USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire 800 port and a FireWire port. </p> <p> The 17-inch MacBook Pro features Apple’s Scrolling TrackPad and illuminated keyboard with ambient light sensor.
