Silicon Color (www.siliconcolor.com) -- makers of FinalTouch colour-correction software -- note on their Web site that their technology has been acquired by Apple.

"We are pleased to announced that all Silicon Color technology and intellectual property, including FinalTouch color correction software, was recently sold to Apple," Silicon Color noted on its Web site. "Maintenance agreements held by current Silicon Color customers will be honored by Apple until they expire."

Silicon Color developed professional colour finishing software for film and video editors working on Macs. Silicon Color's products had been used by The Discovery Channel and other cable television studios and had also been used to colour-correct promos for X-Men 3: The Last Stand.

FinalTouch 2K was designed for colour finishing for 2K DPX and Cineon files in realtime, while FinalTouch HD supported Final Cut Pro and QuickTime media in high definition. FinalTouch SD is the colour-finishing tool designed for standard definition (SD) QuickTime media. The company had recently updated its software to work on Apple's Mac Pro systems.
