Adobe has launched version 7.0 of its After Effects compositing suite, adding support for a wide range of high-end formats and functions, as well as redesigning the user interface to allow more customization. As before, the software is available in standard and Professional editions.

After Effects 7.0 replaces version 6.5’s overlapping palettes with a series of dockable and groupable panels that automatically scale and resize themselves to fill gaps in AE’s interface. These panels contain the same tabbed information layout and tools as their equivalents in version 6.5’s palettes, but don’t require repeated rearranging when you need to change the size of one panel. Panels can be grouped to allow management as a single set, and panels (or groups) can be dragged out as floating windows if you wish.
