Kodak have today announced a new entrant to the now competitive 6Mp compact zoom market. Offering a 3x optical zoom, the EasyShare DX7630 camera will be priced at around £300 plus VAT, and will become available in April 2004, say Kodak.
The lens fitted is a Schneider-Kreuznach f/2.8-8.0 3x optical zoom. The DX7630 provides both automatic point-&-shoot functions and manual controls, with manual, aperture-priority, shutter-priority, program and custom modes, as well as 16 automatic scene modes. The shutter speed range is 64-1/1400s, with exposure compensation, automatic bracketing and ISO equivalents.
The DX7630 has a low-light auto-focus system, selectable focus zones and continuous auto-focus which delivers 0.3 second click-to-capture rates. The camera's 5.5cm LCD screen has a resolution of 153,000p. 32Mb of internal memory is complimented by an SD/MultiMediaCard memory slot. Full-motion video capture is possible at 24fps
Kodak are offering docking accessories for the camera at additional cost. A basic dock, the EasyShare 6000 dock, which offers PC connectivity and battery charging, is priced at around £50 plus VAT. The EasyShare printer dock will also print images up to 10-x-15cm, and will be available at around £170 plus VAT.
The DX7630 includes Kokak EasyShare software for Windows and Mac systems, providing digital picture transfer, organisation, basic editing, sharing and printing. The Kodak's One Touch to Better Pictures takes advantage of proprietary colour technologies.
