London-based Irish illustrator Eoin Ryan has released a series of new editorial work and beautiful cover art for The Handmaid’s Tale novel.

His beautifully textured and patterned work is created from line drawings scanned into Photoshop and Illustrator. He then cuts out textures made using scanned ink washes and colourises and shades them using Photoshop, bringing a striking combination of contrasting colours.

Eoin has worked for an extensive range of clients including Faber, Universal Music, Wallpaper* Magazine, GQ and Penguin Books.

We spoke to him about a striking set of illustrations on Indian weddings for an article in Wallpaper* in 2011.

Eoin’s recent editorial work includes book review illustrations for Literatur Spiegel and Science Journal’s Nature, an article illustration for Think publishing and coverart for Margaret Atwood’s classic novel The Handmaid’s Tale.
