A dark fairytale about innocent minds, Hibernation is the latest film from filmmaker John Williams, which combines live-action and CG animation.

Hibernation is the latest short film by award-winning director/writer John Williams. Known for his videos for Offspring, Coldplay, and his effects work on Radiohead’s There There promo, Williams’ won Best Young Director at the Cannes Advertising Awards for a Greenpeace ad (co-directed by David Lea). His previous animated short Robots was awarded the McLaren Award at Edinburgh.

A 15-minute live action/animation short for the big screen, Hibernation was shot on super 16mm at Pinewood Studio and on location at the end of last year. Sponsored by Working Title 2, Arri Media and Kodak – with Peter Lowe of Screen Channel as executive producer – the film had a crew of over 30 working on the production.

Hibernation is a dark fairytale of two heavily-disguised boys running medical tests on insects in a secret tree house. According to John Williams, the main story draws on a newspaper article that appeared several years ago.
