When Ford want a sexy new shot of their cars in action, they don’t hire a photographer, they turn to a crew of 13 3D animators in Essex.

border=0 /><BR></div> </p> <p> Rather than ship cars around the world to be photographed, for the last four years Ford has turned to design agency Burrows to create the images for them. Burrows is a below the line design and communication agency with offices in the US and Europe, but it’s their 13-strong team of 3D animators in Shenfield, Essex, that do the work for Ford. </p> <p> “We are market leaders in Europe and the US,” says Robin Lowry, 3D team leader of the N.Visage visualization workflow, “especially in the automotive industry. People always seem to benchmark us against others.” </p> <p> Working from CAD data sent from Ford, N.Visage creates massive real-life images. “Our images are rendered to a large size, from print resolution – double page spreads in a brochure - right up to bill-board size,” says Lowry. To do this, they use ART VPS’ RenderDrive, a box of chips that acts as a render server and doesn’t tie up animators’ workstations. </p> <p> <div class=inlineimage><img src= Print
